Note: There was a family of Wogans, established at Molleston in the parish of Mountain, co. Pembroke, about the middle of the 17th C. The earliest member of it recorded was William Wogan, senior administration ofwhose effects was granted on 15 May, 1677 at Carmarthen, to his son William Wogan junior, Anne the widow of the deceased having renounced. The administration papers show that William Wogan, senior, also had a daughter named Anne.
Francis Green, WWHR, vol VII p15.
RGW in a letter of 19.3.1972 refers to an Owen Phillips of Molleston who died c 1608. Now Ethelred [S3] was the grandson of an Owen Phillips on his mother's side. This suggests that William and Ethelred were brothers and originated from Molleston.
In the same letter RGW refers to a list of Pembrokeshire Hearths in 1670 culled from WWHR.
There are two William's mentioned in this list:-
1) William Wogan who owned 4 hearths in Monkton
2) William Wogan - pauper of Walwyns Castle.
RGW assumes that the first is William senior and the latter is William junior.

Rev. Ethelred Wogan D.D. of the parish of St. George Hanover Sq., London, died a bachelor and administration of his effects was granted on 8 June 1672, to his father William Wogan.
Francis Green in WWHR vcol VII p12.
Given the unusual christian name, it is a fair bet that this Ethelred was from the Haverfordwest branch. There are two Williams in this branch who are candidates for his father:
William senior (S12) who died in 1677
William junior (S14) living in 1677
since William senior had another son
c
alled Ethelred (S16) d. 1685 I have opted for the latter.
